Mr. Harrison is beginning his 34th year in education as Tioga ISD’s new Superintendent, and he has been in this area for twelve years.  He graduated from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, with a B.A. degree in English, and he received his Masters Degree and Superintendent Certification from The University of North Texas.  His experience includes teaching English and History, coaching Football, Basketball, Baseball, Track, and Tennis, and he has served as an Assistant Principal, College Counselor and as an Elementary and High School Principal.  Mr. Harrison enjoys visiting his three sons in Austin, Beverley Hills, CA, and Durenbuchig, Germany.

Mr. Hunter has been in Tioga ISD for thirteen years. While in Tioga, he has served as teacher, coach, athletic director, and is currently in his 4th year as principal.  Mr. Hunter graduated from UNT where he earned his bachelor's degree and teaching certificate. More recently, he graduated from TWU where he received both his Master’s Degree and Superintendent Certification.

Lindsay Johnson

Pre-K

 

This is Mrs. Johnson’s 3rd year to teach.  She graduated from Gunter H.S. and attended Grayson County College and TWU in Denton.  After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education she taught kindergarten in Gunter for two years.  She is married to Kraig who is a teacher and coach in Anna.  Mrs. Johnson loves to travel, make jewelry and shop.  She is very excited about being in Tioga.  She is also the Cheerleading sponsor.

 

Rachel James

Ms. James is teaching for her second year in Tioga Elementary School. She likes Tioga a lot because it’s so small that you get to know everyone. She decided to become a teacher because of the great teachers that she had. In addition, Ms. James attended Pottsboro High School and went to Southeastern Oklahoma State University. This Kindergarten teacher received her high school diploma from her then superintendent, Mr. Anthony Daugherty. She is also an excellent photographer.  Ms. James loves her new students and looks forward to another great year in Tioga.  She is also the Cheerleading sponsor.

Darcey Hahn

First Grade

Mrs.Hahn has taught for 8 years. This being her second year in Tioga and ninth year of teaching. She has taught previously in Celina. She loves Tioga and expects to teach here for awhile. Melinda Montgomery

This is Ms. Montgomery’s sixth year teaching.  She is a Graduate from The University of North Texas in Denton with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and a Graduate of Tarleton State University Medical school. She also has a degree from Texas Woman’s University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She is certified in Texas to teach pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. Outside of school, Ms. Montgomery and her daughter live at Lake Kiowa and are busy golfing, swimming, hanging out with friends, and gardening.

 

 

Kristi Green

This is Mrs. Green’s 4th year in public education. She attended TWU where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education along with her Masters in Education. Kristi began working for Tioga last year as a teacher assistant in the spring semester. She is married and has four children in which three (Chance, Lana, & Will) attend Tioga. Her interest includes time in the sun and spending time with her children.

Kari Bailey

4th Grade

This is Mrs. Bailey’s 15th year teaching.  She grew up in Frisco and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Cameron University in 1990. Mrs. Bailey then secured teaching certificates in Special Education (PK-12), Elementary (Grades 1-8), and Information Processing Technologies (PK – 12).  Previously, Mrs. Bailey taught at Frisco ISD for eight years and Collinsville ISD for six years.  Kari and her husband, Brian, have two children, Joey and J.  Outside of school, Mrs. Bailey loves all sports, reading, and spending time with her family.

 

 

 

Chantel Hamner

Mrs. Hamner has had 8 years of teaching experience, and is beginning her third year in Tioga. She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1999.  She has hosted 7 exchange students from all over the world, allowing her to know a diverse amount of cultures.  Mrs. Hamner and her husband, Thomas, have a son, Austin, and a daughter, Chelsea, who attend Tioga Schools. Barbara Cowart

Mrs. Cowart, a veteran teacher with 21 years of classroom experience, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and minored in Economics.  She then secured her teaching credentials in Elementary Education and Kindergarten and has since added certifications in Gifted and Talented, Reading, and Language Arts.

 

Barbara has taught in California, New Mexico, and Texas.  While in California, she was named one of the Teachers of the Year by John Hopkins University.  She was also named Tioga’s 2006 Teacher of the Year.

 

Barbara and her husband Ron have two grown sons.  Her older son, Robert, graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio and is a software engineer.  Her younger son, Thomas, attended Tioga from the 5th through the 8th grade.  Thomas graduated from Principia College in Illinois and is employed with the Information Technology department at Prin.

 

Janice Stalling

This is Mrs. Stalling’s 16th year teaching.  Janice received a BS in Elementary Education with a science specialization at Lamar University.  Previously, Mrs. Stalling taught at Sacred Heart School and Celina ISD.  Over the last two summers she completed hours of graduate science education work at Texas A&M.  Now she is simultaneously teaches by day and takes graduate classes as a student in the evenings while working on a Masters in Geoscience through Mississippi State University.   Mrs. Stalling is also involved with several ongoing science cooperatives and belongs to a network of science teachers.  Janice and her husband, Joe, have three children; one married, one in college, and the youngest is a junior at Gunter High School.  Mrs. Stalling likes her students and wants to foster in them a love for science.  Click here to visit Mrs. Stalling’s web page.

 

Elias Khalaf

This is Mr. Khalaf's 12th year of teaching, ten of which have been in Tioga.  He graduated in 1983 with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Manhattan College and earned his teaching credentials at East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas.  He is certified to teach Math in Middle and High school.  Mr. Khalaf is the only teacher in TISD history to be selected twice by his colleagues as Teacher of the year.  He earned this recognition in 2001 and again in 2003.

Diane Mincher

 Ms. Mincher is a veteran teacher with eighteen years of classroom experience.  She holds a Bachelors Degree in Business and Elementary Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.  Diane has also completed the course for Master Reading Teacher.

Amy Isham

Band Director


 

 This is Mrs. Isham’s first year in education. She grew up in Howe and currently lives in Sherman.  Her husband, Jimmy, works for KXII and they have a one year old son named Kyle.  She spent two years in college working with the Howe band program and subbed off and on since graduating from Austin College. Her family owns Tracks Restaurant in Sherman.  She is very excited about becoming our band director and having the opportunity to work with the lower elementary students in music.     

Ron Gathright

Coach Gathright is an Arkansas State University Graduate, with a passion for basketball.  He graduated in 1995 with a degree in Sports management, “I believe everyone needs fitness, even if they aren’t in sports.” That is true in many minds but no more than his. He is a great volleyball coach and will be a great basketball coach.

This is the beginning of my tenth year of teaching and coaching, 5 of which are here at Tioga.  Before coming to Tioga I taught Middle school and coached Varsity football and Elementary Basketball at Empire, Oklahoma.   I received my B.S. in Elementary Education degree at Cameron University in Lawton, OK.  I have enjoyed my time as a Texan and look forward to more years at Tioga as it continues to grow.   

 

My wife, Angelia, is a teacher at Collinsville Elementary and I have a daughter that is 18 months old.  When we are not working we enjoy going to rodeos, traveling, and being with our family and friends.

Carrie Whittington
